Marine Major Samuel M. Griffith, 36, of Virginia Beach, VA, was assigned to 4th Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Marine Forces Reserve, West Palm Beach, FL. MAJ Griffith died in the Helmand province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.
